Painting amongst the Salvia's which were all blooming.
Constance's Garden shed
I am always seeking after the next garden shed or barn to paint. This season I think I will be painting a series of Sonoma County Red Barns. They are beautiful with the back drop of the green hills, vineyards and with a few wildflowers in the foreground.
I love to paint off the trail near First Street East in Sonoma at The Briar Patch in Sonoma, California I will have a few smaller paintings for you to select from if you are looking for a cottage like painting of Sonoma. They will be going downtown to the Fairmont gallery in Sonoma.
The happy sunflower stillife paintings have found themselves in a perfect spot in the Faimont Gallery, in Sonoma, California. They brighten up the corner just in time for the harvest season. The harvest has been happening for sunflowers as well as grapes. The local farmers market have choice sunflowers for sale. I set up with sunflower bouquets in my barn studio and bring in some unique vases to paint. Funky, colorful and whimsical paintings come out of the my studio prolifically because I am inspired.
Many have been effected by Hurricane Harvey and its flooding damage. We will all rise above this flood damage. For an artist it can be a bit difficult as people focus on putting their lives and homes back together and they are not always interested in spending on art. But art can bring healing and happiness back in to your homes. Texas Plein air artists especially take on the challenges of storms, humidity and heat which drive us back inside to paint. I am hoping to get to my studio soon and not by boat, to finish painting the sunflowers and landscapes.
Constance in her art pod studio
My art studio is located down a country lane off Kluge Road which now you can can see is flooded.
No matter what the weather is like I am going to paint. I set up my space with photo reference of views that I have experienced. I set up a live still life of flowers. I went to Muller Ranch in Woodland, California to experience the farming scene of growing sunflowers. I was quite impacted looking at the flowers at the different times of the day.
Some days you have magical painting days. Everything seems to go well no matter what. I think it has to do with the surroundings that we as painters decide to paint. The hum of the bees around the lavender maybe my painting flow. The brightness of the sun and the orange umbrellas cheered everyone around me.
